Installing Opencart Themes
All templates come with step by step instructions. Below is a general theme setup.
If you’re not a Opencart expert, the instructions can be a bit daunting. Just follow through the instructions the best you can, and I’m available for any questions you have. Email me at info@eshopalot.com if you have any troubles.

Click on the "image" tab. Click on the first box where you see the "opencart" logo.
A pop up wil appear. Click on the "upload" button and find your logo you just created on your hard drive. Once you do this, it will be added in the list inside the pop up box. Double click on the logo. Its now saved and your done.
Editing manufacturer info
By default, the manufacturer information is listed at the bottom of the home page when installed.
To remove this go into your admin and do the following:
- Go under extension/modules/ and click the edit button next to carousel.
- You can simply go under the dropdown box under status and select "disable". Then click save.
Editing the homepage sliding banner
Create as many banner slides as you like. Make sure the width of them is no wider than "980px wide.
Once you have created your images and saved them on your hard drive.
- Go into admin/ design/banners
- There should be an existing home page banner called "Samsung Tab". Click the button "edit" that refers to that banner.
- Here you can change the name to whatever you like in the "banner name".
- Click on the existing image, click "upload, find your first banner on your hard drive, then find that banner in the listings and click on it.
- The title is important, this is important for google, so make sure you put the title of the banner in place, and the link is the url that the banner will link to (ie: www.whatever.com).
- Now you have your first banner, to add another banner, click on "add banner" at the bottom of the page. Click on the camera icon, and repeat what you did for your first banner.
- Do the same if you want to add more banners to the home page slider.
- When your finish, click "save"
Now you have to fix the size of the banner.
- Go into extensions/modules and click on "edit" next to slideshow. If you change the name of your banner from "Samsung Tab" to something else, click on that banner should be showing, if not, Samsung tab should be showing.
- If this area is blank, click "add module". Select your home page banner name. Set the layout to "home" and position to "content top", and status to "enabled".
- And this is where you alter the size. Set it to the width of "980" and by the height you created. My example is "380", but you may have created your image to a different height.
Home Page Products
In my examples, I have featured items shown on the home page. To do this, go into your admin and go under extensions/modules/featured
Click on "add module". In the products box, type a product you would like to see featured. It looks best if they are equal if more than one column is created.
And make your settings match this:

You don't have to use the features on the home page, you can use specials, bestsellers, or latest for the home page. Also, you can adjust to image size to get the numbers across you desire.
Adding products to columns
In your modules, you can add products similar to the above but having them listed in your columns. In my example I used the latest box showing on the product and category page. But you can have specials, bestsellers, latest or featured. You can also set to column right. But we'll go though using my example.
Go under extensions/modules/latest and use the following as a guide:

Setting up
Now you have to decide whether you want your template to look.
you can have your categories on the top or categories on the side
You can also decide to have the categories on both the top and side. You can choose to only have the categories you are pushing to sell on top, and all of them on the side. Your choice. So follow the install with categories on the side as you'll need the image setup to be as instructed on the side install.
Setting up with categories on the top
Adding categories
Make sure when you add categories, that you click the "top" checkbox under the "Data" tab! This will make the category listed on the top menu. If you don't want this particular category listed on the top, then don't check this box.
Module positions setup
I recommend if you add any modules to the product pages, use only the column left or column right positions to leave room for the products. But on the other pages, you can add modules to both left and right columns if you choose.
DO NOT add any modules to the home page using the instructions for the categories on the top. If you want modules on the home page, please use the category on the side setup.
- Go into your admin/extensions/modules
- Choose the "information" edit. (in this example we'll use "information"
- This can get confusing. But you must called out a new layout for each section you want your categories shown on. And since this version doesn't have the categories on the top, you have to put the categories on each page.
- So at the bottom you'll see a "Add Module". Click that.
- On the left you'll see "account". Under position select "column left" or "column right". Status stays at "enabled".
- Repeat this process for all. Which means you have to "Add Module" and set the Layout for all "Account, Affiliate, Category, Checkout, Contact, Default, Home, Information, Manufacturer, Product and Sitemap". You will have 11 modules setting for Information. You want not want this modules set on all pages. Do not add a layout for places you do not want it displayed.
- Do this process for Each module you want displayed.

Setting up with categories on the Side
With this setup, you can still have categories on the top as well as the side. You may want to list only some categories on the top and all listed on the side. It's up to you
Adding categories
Make sure when you add categories, that you click the "top" checkbox under the "Data" tab if you want this category listed on the top!
It just gets messy and crowded on those pages, but this is totally your choice.
- Go into your admin/extensions/modules
- Choose the "category modules" and click edit. (in this example we'll use "category"
You will have 11 modules setting for Category. You may not want this modules set on all pages. Do not add a layout for places you do not want it displayed.
- Do this process for Each module you want displayed IE: information, etc.
And that should do it. Your all set up! If you have any questions, contact us on info@eshopalot.com
